Kenny Smith, who teaches introductory composition classes and STEM-centered writing courses, including those within the engineering sequence, is joining the Writing Program at UCSB. Kenny earned his MA in English at Middle Tennessee State University and his doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Louisville.

Kenny's primary scholarly interest is how students develop as writers throughout their college careers, particularly what "transfers" from writing classes to other disciplinary courses.

In his spare time, he likes to play video games, binge watch Stranger Things, and cook tasty foods that reflect his Italian America heritage.
