Department Resources

The Lab

—Located in South Hall 1401, the lab is available for all your computer, copying, and printing needs. Here's what you need to know:

1.) An access code is required to get into the lab, as well as to use the copier; codes are given out at the beginning of Fall quarter. Please see Scott for any code or access issues at SH 1517 or at 893-7151.

2.) The computers in the lab are networked with the copier, which will allow you to send documents electronically to the copier. You specify the parameters of the copy job from the computer (i.e. number of copies, sort, staple, etc.) When you select to print to the copier, a window appears asking for your department ID and password. Your ID is your copy code. You do not need a password.

3.) Photocopy allocation is 700 copies per class per quarter; additional copies can be purchased at .05 cents/copy. (see Scott and Jessica)

4.)Transparencies are located in the lab.

5.) If a computer or printer is not working, please let Scott know asap. If you don't tell us, we can't fix it.

6.) Please do not store important documents on the lab computers, they are liable to be erased without notice. Those files will not be backed up.

7.) Scott would be more than happy to show you how to use any equipment or software, or to consult with you on any technology needs.

The Conference Room

—The conference room is available to book for group office hours, class presentations, and meetings. It has an overhead projector, TV/VCR/DVD cart, and a dedicated computer with internet access and video projection. Click on the "1432" link at the top of this page to see the schedule or reserve the room.

1.) Please, do not prop the doors and then leave the room unoccupied.

2.) Never give your door code to anyone.

3.) Please turn off the lights when you are finished in the room.

4.) Please do not turn off or change settings on the stereo or the computer. The next person will not know what you did and won't know how to get it back to normal. If you require some special settings, please ask Scott.

5.) Most importantly, the janitors do not clean that room. Therefore, you must clean up after yourself. Please don't leave food in the room and wash out the coffee pots if you choose to use them.

6.) Return all tables and chairs to their original position.

Office space for graduate students

—English dept. has provided office space for their students. The WP will provide office space for all other students. See Scott for office assignment, office mate information and keys.

Instructor Mailboxes

—Mailboxes are located in SH 1519 (across from the main office).

Supplies

—Standard items like grade books, pens, pencils, index cards, etc. are available. (See Program Assistant)

Of course, the Writing Program office staff is available to answer questions, fix problems, and especially, prevent problems. WP office is located in SH 1520. Click "Staff" at the top of the page for specific staff responsibilities.
