On Friday, May 30, the Writing Program will host a series of awards ceremonies and other events at Loma Pelona.
Our featured event is a mini-colloquium on Feedback to Students, at which UC Davis Professor Chris Thaiss will present “Creating a Climate of Responsiveness for Learning and Writing: Better Learning Through Better Feedback.”
Award events include the Writing 50 Excellence Awards, the Engineering Writing Awards (with guest speaker Yelena Lipovetskaya, co-?founder and Chief Technology Officer of Cospheric LLC, a local microtechnology company), and the Professional Writing Awards.
Starting Lines, an annual publication featuring excellent writing by students in Writing 1 and Writing 2 courses, will hold its publication party. And the Professional Writing Minor will hold its annual get together to honor students who've completed the minor.
In a new event this year, Students from Writing 107G and the Civic Engagement track of the minor will come together for a roundtable discussion on fostering civic engagement through writing classes.
Please see the attached PDF for a complete schedule of events.
