...Nick Tingle has taught writing at UCSB since 1980. He is the author of Self-Development and College Writing, NCTE, 2004. He has published on writing pedagogy most especially in College English, JAC, Composition Studies, The Journal of Psychoanalytic Studies, and Studies in Psychoanalytic Theory. Most recently, as part of an exploration of his working class roots, he published "Up to the Bottom: Reflections of a Working Class Writing Instructor," in Writing on the Edge and presented the following papers:"It's Alright (sic) Ma. I'm Only Crying," Conference on College Composition and Communication, March 2007;"Hating Students: A Case of Class Conflict," Conference on College Composition and Communication, March 2006 "The Psychological Strains of the Working Class Academic," Conference on Working Class Studies, Youngstown, Ohio, May 2005.

He has entered the world of blogging and keeps a blog on his work as a writing instructor and another more personal one, dealing with the meaning of life in general.
