||||
...Jeffrey Hanson has taught a variety of undergraduate courses in the Writing Program although he specializes in the instruction of professional writing, particularly business writing. He also holds a joint appointment in the Linguistics/ESL Program, where he teaches primarily graduate-level courses for international students and scholars. His research interests include professional/technical writing, cross-cultural/global communication, collaborative approaches to learning, and English as a second/foreign language. Beyond UCSB, he has pursued the above interests and others while working in the local business community and while teaching at universities abroad for four recent years under the U.S. Information Agency in Estonia, Hungary, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. His academic outreach includes more than 20 conference presentations in six countries as well as various writing, editing and training tasks here and abroad. |
