... Mashey Bernstein teaches Writing 1, Writing 50 (usually on the Vietnam War) as well as classes linked with Film Studies and Music. He also teaches 109V, Writing for the Visual Arts, for which he and colleague George Yatchisin penned a standard text published by Pearson, and 109FS, and Writing for Magazine Publication. His academic writing includes articles on the media, especially film and Jewish aspects of film, as well as the late Norman Mailer, the subject of his Ph.D. His publications have appeared in Christianity and Literature and Studies in American-Jewish Literature, the Mailer Review and American Studies. Articles have also appeared in Newsweek, the Los Angeles Times and Jewish Film World. He has penned chapters in The Text and Beyond: Essays in Literary Linguistics and Perspectives on Woody Allen. He is a recipient of a Simon Rockower Award for Excellence in Jewish Journalism. |
