A project investigating how students and faculty define threshold concepts (Meyer and Land) for learning in general education courses in composition and history.

Thresholds, Disciplines, and Publics: Locating Writing in Higher Education (with Heidi Estrem)
Building on earlier work examining the entities seeking to define writing (and their interests in doing so), this project draws on the threshold concepts study above to argue that composition and rhetoric must define and act upon a unique disciplinary identity.
